Sai Kung has a unique coastline, and away from the hustle and bustle city, a number of bays thus can retained their natural beauty. The rich biodiversity, coupled with the beautiful scenery, attracts many visitors. However, marine pollution is getting more and more serious in recent years. Large quantities of marine refuse have been washed up onto the beaches, this caused damages to the natural environment and ecosystem, and even affected the human health and daily life directly. If human turn a blind eye to this issue, the marine refuse will cause different degrees of damages to the marine ecology and the waters of Hong Kong.

“ECF Let’s Clean the Sai Kung Shoreline” leads the public to some rarely-known Sai Kung coasts to do the cleanup works. Since those areas are remote, rarely-known and seldom visited, not many people took the initiative in cleaning up the garbage. The accumulation of garbage caused destructive effects to the environment. The selected locations of the cleanup works are matted with garbage. Guided session is also provided to introduce the related ecological and geological knowledge. The participants can not only experience the shoreline cleanup works, but also learn beyond textbooks and explore rarely-known bays.

Besides the cleanup works, we also organize talks regarding marine refuse to educate the students the correct values of environmental conservation and enrich the related knowledge. Interested schools and organizations are invited to contact us for further information.
